Kyfarah stood patiently, one heavily feathered and silky hind leg resting as Fayza diligently
brushed out her thick, long, soft hair, humming to herself quietly, making sure Kyfarah looked
like a queen for the conformation class later that day.

This was the first time Fayza would show Kyfarah; Ellie normally took care of her, but she was
still away with Zaphiare at the Olympics. And Fayza was going to make her debut stunning.

“You’re such a good girl,” Fayza said sweetly to the big peacock mare. It took a long time to
comb through all of the turquoise-green peacock-design tail that more than reached the ground.
“Almost done,” she sang, working on the last section.

After she finally finished, she clumped all the hair back together again and separated it into five
sections and braided it to keep it detangled and preserve the gentle waves. The braid just barely
grazed on the ground, the hair losing length due to the more complex braid.

“Okay, girlie, we’re done!” Fayza went to the mare’s head and reached up to pat her thick blue-
roaned neck. She had already braided her mane along the crest and the braid end hung down
below Kyfarah’s shoulder. Her forelock was also braided and it lay in the center of her head.

“You are all braided up now, pretty.”

Kyfarah flicked her furry ears forward, eager to get moving somewhere.

“I know, I know, you’re so patient!” Fayza quickly freed the mare from her post in the stables
and started to lead her out to the pastures to relax.

Fayza was a little nervous, unlike Kyfarah, who was completely chill. She wasn’t sure why she
was; no one would be looking at her if she was right next to a big peacock draft horse.

Especially this one, she thought, admiring the sheening furry coat next to her.

“You’ll do perfect, Kyfarah. I’m just worrying over nothing,” she said resignedly, mentally shaking
her head at herself. “All you have to do is stand there and look pretty. You never stop doing that!”
