Judging is at the bottom!
This is Royally Frozen I and II's sister competition!
Like last year, I will be happy to critique any entry after the results have been posted.
You will choose Silver or Gold for each of your entries - each entry of yours can be different.
You have to choose silver or gold, can't do both in one entry! This of course doesn't include the horse's actual colors.
Whichever you choose, your entry must incorporate it - tack, clothes, decor - anything you like!
Silver or Gold should be a main theme of your entry.
Open to all horse and human characters, no matter what affiliation or lack thereof!
Gild your equine in sparkling silver or glittering gold!
Liberty
• No humans allowed! Humans are still not majestic in this class! •This takes place in the Indoor Dressage arena.
Decorate and adorn your lovely equines in their chosen material!
Let them prance, rear, or just stand beautifully in the arena - whatever they like to do! Show off!
This takes place during the day, so you will have a lot of light coming in from the ceiling - a spotlight, even....
There are silver/gold candle holders and other ornaments you can use to decorate the arena.
Indoor Dressage Arena
The floor of the dressage arena is pale sand.
Light sources - there's a bright but concentrated one from above, the daytime sky, plus the chandeliers, and then wherever you want candles on the ground.
The walls are smooth rock, somewhat shiny.
The room will be fairly bright with all of the lights, so don't make your entry too dark!
Freestyle
• The humans are allowed to be majestic in this class •This takes place in the Flooded Dungeon.
There must be a human in your entry, decorated and dressed in your material as well as the horse(s).
Clothes, tack, ornaments, fabrics - a little or a lot, be creative!
You can do traditional tack and clothes, but I would rather see fun tricks and movements!
You can use more than one horse, and multiple riders are allowed, here are some combinations you could use:
[1 rider, 1 horse] [1 rider, 2 horses] [1 rider and 1 non-rider, 1 horse] or whatever other combination you want!
Do a choreographed dance routine, do a trick show, do something that shows how fabulous you all are <3
And remember to dress creatively! Both horse(s) and human(s).
Flooded Dungeon
The actual floor is paved stone, but it's flooded with about 15cm/6in of water - not much, but enough to play with
Water falls in from a hole in the high ceiling - the water has turned misty by the time it reaches the ground
Bio-luminescent life lives at this hole, creating a soft glow from the ceiling. Sometimes firefly-like moths flutter around.
There are old cells/rooms around the edges of the dungeon but the doors are not there anymore.
There are 6 pillars in the main room - three on each side of the image above, spaced evenly.
Because of the enclosed area, sounds echo for a long time around the room.
The room will therefore be dim but you can still see what is going on fine because of the bio-luminescence.
Remember that the water will reflect back images of what is above it - this should be really fun!
You can get ideas of the bio-luminescence here, but the light is more white than blue.
The ceiling and higher parts of the walls are 'unfinished', not smoothed or carved, something like this
Things to Remember:
I do judge against your own gallery, on the few most recent (before the date that the entry was submitted) effort-based drawings.
I pay attention to the colors chosen, the composition, the flow, light sources, the overall goes-togetherness, etc.
Make sure the background has some features that places it at VVEE's arenas - chandelier, cave walls, stone, etc.
Details, in the decor or horse itself or background. Everything. All the details. But not so many that it looks crowded!
Composition - where the horse is in the frame, where it is in the background, what colors you use, where light and darks are, etc;
Composition can really play into creativity and overall appeal.
Pose and angle of course are going to be important for such a noble competition ;D
I love to see people work with light sources!
You should have plenty of silver or gold in your entries. If not, you'll have theme points taken away. Same goes for attire - I want to see creativeness!
If you want to enter a usual breeches and boots competition, you're in the wrong place ^^
The way I have judged in the past is I choose a base number of points from each category and say that full 'expected' results for each artists gets the full base points, and then when I see less-than-expected work based on the artist's previous artwork, they get less than the base points, and if I think the artists went above and beyond what they have done recently I give more than the base amount. It is rare someone actually gets the full amount of points for any single category.
If there is a tie in points, I generally decide the tiebreaker by the more creative entry.
You can look at past Royally Frozen competitions for more ideas: RF I ; RF II
Main Judging
This is effort-based, single-entry. No RNG. I decide tiebreakers myself.
Extra pictures will not earn extra points; do your very best-est on your entry!
You will get a score effort-wise and for following rules for each category:
30pts for the horse/rider
15pts for the background
35pts overall appeal and creativity (make it pretty! Color combos, arrangement, etc)
15pts theme (not just standard tack and attire and setting!)
up to 5pts for a story
Tracing is allowed, but deducted up to 3pts for effort - I don't judge on proportions
Total: 100 points
Assuming the turnout for this year will be like last's, here are the categories:
Liberty and Freestyle will each have:
Gold Queen/King - 1st place Gold mare/stallion
Silver Queen/King - 1st place Silver mare/stallion
Gold Prince/Princess - 2nd place Gold mare/stallion
Silver Prince/Princess - 2nd place Silver mare/stallion
3rd; 4th; 5th; 6th from the combined rest of the group
Sparklette will have:
Very Best - 1st place overall in class
2nd Best - 2nd place overall in class
3rd Best - 3rd place overall in class
And the following are titles that you can get, there are no prizes associated (except a ribbon or something like that) but I hope they make you feel warm and fuzzy inside :3
There can be multiple winners if I can't decide!
Shining Attire - my favorite costume

Bling Bling - determined via public poll
Fine Taste - my favorite background
The Lord/Lady of Gold/Silver - The mare or stallion that has the highest overall score, including both classes
